When did you begin making original one-of-a-kind dolls, and why? Almost all of my dolls are original one-of-a-kind. I will make dolls from other's patterns for myself once in a while just for fun because I love the design.
What type/style of dolls do you make? I have made just about all types of dolls to date. I started out with polymer clay characters like jesters and elderly folk , then moved on to portraits, next I moved on to whimsical cloth characters and now I mix it all up!
What media(s) do you use? Cloth, Polymer Clay, Paperclay, Mixed Media and Paper Mache
What do you consider to be “special” about your dolls? The realism of the characters (in my portraits) and the whimsy of my cloth dolls.
What are your goals as a doll maker? To keep trying new things all the time . . . never stop learning new techniques and to always have fun.
Tell a little about yourself: I've been married for 18 years and have two teenage girls. My husband has been my biggest supporter since day one and is still involved in many of my new projects. My youngest daughter has shown an interest in doll making and has designed the body of a few of my more off the wall cloth dolls. Even when life gets hectic I still try to find some time to be creative, it's a big part of me and helps me to stay balanced.
