What type/style of dolls do you make? I am learning the various techniques for creating figures. So far, my complete work has been in polymer, but I am in the process of learning felting and paperclay.
What media(s) do you use? Polymer Clay, Paperclay and Felting.
What do you consider to be “special” about your dolls? My own creations are special because they've sprung from my imagination... so that makes all of our creations "special"!
What are your goals as a doll maker? Right now, my goal is just to finish the things I start! (LOL) I am searching for a technique that I can enjoy, and truthfully, that others will enjoy... my top goal is to earn a little money for those little "extras" in life.
Tell a little about yourself: The acting bug bit Deborah very early in childhood. By the age of 7, she was studying acting, and this interest has culminated in over 100 productions, both theatre and film, to date! Acting wasn't the only artistic area to bloom early. By 12 years old, she was already creating complicated oil paintings and learning to work in various mediums. Her years at The Universities of Windsor and Toronto produced both a BA and an MA in Fine Arts. Here, Deborah put her talents to use creating many sets, props and backdrops for their many productions. Costuming, too, was an interest, particularly detail work in the form of beading and trims. After University, Deborah continued on to pursue her career as an actor. During this time, she owned her own Casting Agency as well as several other businesses for her industry. This experience is why Deborah is the "glue" that holds Little Dumpy Ladies together, and helps keep them on track. Her organizational skills and business acumen facilitate the more "mundane" aspects of running a small business (as well as her skill at making tea! J).
