When/why did you start making dolls? I have been doing some form of dolls all my life. Started with soft sculpture pieces, and then about twenty years ago l went to Berlin to learn about making Aliens and puppets with rubber latex for a Science Fiction show l was working on. l got hooked with the medium and after returning to Canada, l continued doing 3 dimensional characters with paper clay, and then polymer clay pieces.

When did you begin making original one-of-a-kind dolls, and why? I have always made one-of-a-kind pieces and never done any production work. I love being original, love the art form of mixing mediums and devoloping new techniques. It keeps things very exciting.

What type/style of dolls do you make? My one-of-a-kind art dolls are inspired by my European background and have a very theatrical whimsey. Unique characters that l have designed developed in my career as a make-up artist.

What do you consider to be “special” about your dolls? I feel my strengths in my art dolls is the embellishments and finishing of costumes. I love to use special antique items and develop my own style.

What are your goals as a doll maker? My goals would be to perfect my art to a point where l could make a living totally from my Dolls in Galleries. Although, l have done many shows my ideal would be to get into the American and European market.

Tell a little about yourself: I am a professional Make-up Artist for Stage and Screen for over 30 years, so my work is influenced by my career and has devoloped from my make-up designs over the years. l love what l do, and feel l am very fortunate to have had the opportunities in T.V. and Film to express my creativity.
