When/why did you start making dolls? As a child I discovered my love of the arts. Together with my sisters I would spend hours creating my own clothing catalogues, making cutout dolls, and later my own doll clothes.

When did you begin making original one-of-a-kind dolls and why?  In my earlier years I won awards for Costumes, Displays and my Dolls. In the year that Karen Baldwin, from London Ontario, won Miss Universe I created a doll in her image that won 1stplace at the Western Ontario Fair. Still, I was driven by an incredible passion for self-expression and I just wasn’t satisfied with casts and molds.

What types/styles of dolls do you make?  Over time I have enjoyed experimenting with many forms of friendly plastics and although I seemed to be firmly fixed in the realm of Faeries and Sprites, the odd character doll appears now and then.

What media(s) do you use? In addition to polymer clay sculpting I have adopted two other forms of sculpting:Japanese Paper Sculpting and Fiber Sculpting (Felting).

What do you consider to be "special" about your dolls?  An admirer once said of my work:

“She breathes life into her little sculptures. The attention to detail and expression makes them appear to be alive. They speak to you, they call to you and for a moment you are lost in that world that she has created and …..you don’t want to leave!”

What are your goals as a doll maker? My goals are to take pleasure in creating and displaying my one-of-a-kind sculptures, in our studio where we offer original artwork, supplies and workshops. Aside from that, I will continue to surround myself with Artists, and their ideas, to grow and to educate myself in all facets of Doll making.

Tell a little about yourself?  I was born in Brockville, Ontario, the eldest child in a Military family. My life was filled with relocation and change, but at an early age I recognized one constant; my love of the Arts.  Over the years I had enjoyed taking my work to Festivals, Public Exhibits and Shows and of course collecting a few more awards for my wall, but in October 2009 I took a giant step.  Together with my Husband (also an Artist) we opened our own Romantic Designs Artist Studio in St.Thomas Ontario.  We designed it to be a working studio with a Gallery in the front and workshop in the back.
