Welcome to the home of The Canadian Doll Artists Association! -and we hope you enjoy your visit!
President’s Address–
The
Board of the CDAA has some good news and some “not-so-good” news.
The
not-so-good news is that we must postpone this year’s Celebrations! Conference, but the good news is that we will bring
you a bigger and better Conference in 2011!
We
are already looking forward to next year’s conference, and have made the
decision to recruit teachers and delegates earlier in the year, to allow all of
you to ask for your Conference and Workshop fees as Christmas presents!!!
The
economic dip has had its effect on many aspects of our lives, and unfortunately
the Conference is one of them! But please remember, it happened two years ago,
and we recovered very successfully. We will again!
This
year, we will continue to bring exciting ideas and get-togethers for you, starting
with the Annual General Meeting, to be held within the month.
Please
watch your newsletters and e-blasts for news of this next event!
I
want to take this moment to thank the hard work put in by your Board and other
Conference staff. For the past week, Jae Wright, Kinga Buday and Kathy White have
all been glued to phones, calling as many people as they could to invite them
to our Conference. In addition, Carol Cracknell, Vicki Thompson, Lise
St-Germain and Debbie Kabush have all been working hard on the conference
preparations. Working behind the scenes, Joy Liddy has been sending out e-mail
blasts and newsletters to keep all of us connected, and of course, Esther
Schneider had been preparing for the Competition. Last but not least, Wendy
Rinehart, Lise St-Germain, Carol Cracknell, Lydia Caine and her Doll Club have already
created exquisite centre-pieces which we will hold until next year’s
conference. I am indebted to them all. We all should stand and give them an
ovation for their work!
